Youth Workshops
Young Minds, Big Hearts Filmmaking Workshop
Little filmmakers, ages 5 to 11, will create short 1 to 3 minute movies about a person, animal, hobby, or topic that they are passionate about and brings them joy. Students will learn how to craft a story, plan shots to accompany their stories, and shoot them with the help of their parent/guardian. Students, with parents’ or guardian’s permission, may borrow their smartphone or tablet. Purchasing one for the child isn’t necessary.
How does it work? Each morning, parents/guardians will receive one pre-recorded video containing the day’s filmmaking lesson and activity. Students can watch and complete their daily activity at any time of the day then turn it in that evening. Instructions on how to send video and/or photos will be explained via email. At the end of the two week session (July 16th), there will be a video call party celebrating and showcasing the students’ work. Students who wish to participate in the 2021 Femme Frontera Children’s Showcase in November 2021 may share their films with the general public at that time.
