Como parte de una iniciativa para aumentar, inspirar y apoyar contenido de formato corto realizado por mujeres de Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Femme Frontera financiará nuevos trabajos realizados por cineastas emergentes y establecidas que se identifiquen como mujeres y no binario. Los fondos ayudarán a cineastas en la creación de sus cortometrajes en la región de Ciudad Juárez. Luego se invitará a la(s) película(s) a exhibir como parte de nuestra selección oficial del Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase 2023 o 2024.

As part of an on-going initiative to increase, inspire, and support short form content made by women in the border region, Femme Frontera will fund new works made by emerging and established self-identifying female and non-binary filmmakers in Ciudad Juárez. The funds will assist these filmmakers in the creation of their short films. The film(s) will then be invited to screen as part of our official 2023 or 2024 Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase line up.

La Beca de Cine Femme Frontera apoya a las cineastas que sean mujeres no binarias y/o autoidentificadas de Ciudad Juárez. Proporcionaremos hasta $2500 USD a un cortometraje realizado en esta región por un cineasta local.

Femme Frontera está asumiendo un papel activo en identificar y proveer fondos para cineastas mujeres y/o no binarias. Nos dedicamos a empoderar y priorizar a las cineastas BIPOC y proporcionarles los fondos que necesitan para que sus proyectos despeguen. Estamos recuperando la narrativa fronteriza y alentando a cineastas locales a contar sus propias historias personales, honestas y conmovedoras.

Las películas pueden ser de cualquier género pero no deben exceder los 20 minutos de duración. Los proyectos pueden estar en cualquier etapa de producción, sin embargo, los fondos no se pueden utilizar para la comercialización y distribución. Las películas deben ser DIRIGIDAS por cineastas que sean mujeres no binarias y/o autoidentificadas. Las solicitudes deben ser completadas y enviadas por la directora del proyecto, no los productores u otros creativos del equipo. La(s) película(s) se deben completar antes del 1 de Septiembre, 2023 o 2024, y sera será aceptado automáticamente a la Exhibición Anual de Cineastas Femme Frontera. Pueden otorgarse extensiones debido a la pandemia del Covid-19. 

The Femme Frontera Film Grant supports self-identifying female and non-binary filmmakers from Ciudad Juárez. We will provide one grant of up to $2,500 to a filmmaker from these regions.

Femme Frontera is taking an active role in identifying and providing funding for talented female-identifying and non-binary filmmakers in our community. We are dedicated to empowering and prioritizing BIPOC filmmakers and providing them with the funds they need to get their projects off the ground. We are reclaiming the border narrative and encouraging local filmmakers to tell their own personal, honest and compelling stories.

Films may be any genre but must not exceed 20 minutes in length. Projects may be at any stage of production, however the funds may not be used for marketing and distribution. The films must be DIRECTED by self-identifying female and non-binary filmmakers. Applications must be completed and submitted by the director of the project - not producers or other creatives on the team. The film must be completed by September 1st, 2023 or 2024 and will automatically be accepted into the Annual Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase. Extensions may be granted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

  1. Sinopsis / Tratamiento (máximo 1000 palabras): Debe incluir una descripción detallada de tu película; incluya todos los personajes principales, los puntos de la trama y el final.

  2. Carta de Presentación (máximo 750 palabras): Esta es una oportunidad para contarnos un poco sobre ti y cómo estos fondos serían útiles para tu proyecto.


  3. Declaración Artística (máximo 750 palabras). ¿Cuál es la visión creativa de tu proyecto? ¿Cuál es el género / tono? ¿Cómo quieres que se sienta la audiencia después de ver tu película y qué estás tratando de transmitir? ¿Cuál es tu conexión personal con el material y por qué es necesario contar esta historia?


  4. "Logline": una descripción de una o dos oraciones de tu película.


  5. Presupuesto: Un presupuesto simple de una página para el proyecto y una linea de tiempo. También incluye un párrafo que describa otros fondos que has recibido para este proyecto y cómo utilizarías el dinero de esta beca.


  6. Una biografía corta del cineasta, así como de cualquier colaborador significativo (máximo 250 palabras).

  7. Información de contacto, incluyendo tu nombre, correo electrónico, número teléfonico y dirección postal.


  8. Muestra de Trabajo: un tráiler o rough cut del proyecto con el que está solicitando la beca, o un ejemplo de algún trabajo anterior. La muestra de trabajo debe estar disponible como un enlace de Vimeo o YouTube. Puede configurar su video como privado si no desea que el material esté disponible en línea, pero asegurate de enviarnos la contraseña.     Todas las solicitudes deben completarse utilizando nuestro formulario en línea y recibirse al final del día  (11:59 pm EST) del 1º de Marzo del 2023. Si no tiene una cuenta de Gmail, por favor envíe un correo electrónico a femmefrontera@gmail.com.

    Las cineastas serán notificadas el 1 de Abril del 2023.

  1. Synopsis/Treatment (max 1000 words): This should include a detailed description of your film—please include all major characters, plot points and the ending.

  2. Cover Letter (max 750 words): This is an opportunity to tell us a bit about yourself and how these funds would be helpful to your project. 

  3. Artistic Statement (max 750 words). What is the creative vision of your project? What is the genre/tone? How do you want the audience to feel after they watch your movie, and what are you trying to convey? What is your personal connection to the material, and why does this story need to be told?

  4. Logline: A one to two sentence description of your film. 

  5. Budget Sheet: A simple one-page budget for the project and the project’s timeline. Also include a paragraph describing other funding you have received for this project and how you would use the money from this grant.

  6. A short bio for the filmmaker, as well as any significant collaborators (Max 250 words).

  7. Contact information, including your name, email, phone number, and mailing address.

  8. Work Sample: either a trailer or rough-cut of the project you’re applying for the grant with, or an example of previous work. The work sample should be available as a Vimeo or YouTube link. You can set your video to private if you don’t want the material available online, but please be sure to send us the password.
